8/5/07
I am exhausted. The days begin at 8:30 and end around 10. There’s a ton of (very interesting) information being thrown at us, and it’s hard to digest it all. There are 70 of us at the conference, and there’s very little time to spend by myself to regroup. Saturday night we went to Boulder to see an abysmal production of Julius Caesar at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, and we didn’t get back to our dorm until 12:30AM.
Denver is hot and humid during the day, and gets brief thunderstorms in the early evening, which cools things off a bit. The dorms are set in what looks like was a former industrial wasteland west of the river. They are surrounded by commercial rail, city light-rail, and highway overpasses. We walk a mile from the dorms to the National Center for Voice and Speech, which is on the western end of the downtown. I’m wearing my pedometer and I’m averaging five-six miles a day.
Today I had a nice duck salad at a little French bistro with an outdoor café. A lovely reminder of things passed.
